How to List on the Marketplace

Help new participants find you. Fill your retreats.

 

In this article, written for retreat centers and teachers using Retreat Booking Guru, we'll cover the basics of listing on the Retreat Guru Marketplace.

 

To use this feature you will need to have configured programs in the software. If you haven't done this yet check out Configure a New Program.

Set up Marketplace Profile

A center profile on the marketplace is the place to share the features of your center, tell your story, and the spot for past attendees (booked via the marketplace) to leave reviews.

Some fields from this profile will auto-populate into your programs marketplace tab to save you from re-entering the same information for each program. It's important to note that these fields are only visible on retreat.guru and will not appear anywhere else. If you need some inspiration click the Blue?for examples in each section.

To create your profile, use the Admin Sidebar.  Settings > Set up Marketplace Profile

Email

Your center name will be copied from the booking software. The email for your marketplace profile will need to be entered into the Email Address section. This information can be different from your registrar's email depending on how you'd like your marketplace questions and bookings handled. We recommended using your general center registration email for any questions and bookings.

Photo Gallery

Upload images to showcase your center and give an overall feel of the environment you provide. These images will show potential guests what they could expect when arriving at your center, what your team is like, and what classes or meals may look like when on retreat.

You can also add images into the body of your profile but it is important to have a high-quality gallery with at least 5 images. The first image acts as a featured image, to re-order your images drag and drop a photo into the right place. We recommend your images are high quality and at least 1024 pixels wide.

Mission & Vision

Here is your spot to share your WHY with potential guests. Tell a story of how your center came to be, what was your inspiration to create this space. Try to paint a picture of who you are and why you are called to offer the services you do. Our research shows potential guests are looking for something they can connect with.

Brand Video

If you have a promotional or introduction video for your center this is where you can paste the link. This is something retreat seekers love to see, if you have a brand video or even some testimonials it's important to add it in.

Retreat Type

Please select one or more of the Retreat type categories that best match the services your center offers. Best practice is to select as few as possible. This is general information that will help potential guests find your center when searching on the Marketplace.

Topics

Much like the Retreat type, this general category helps future guests find your center on the Marketplace.

Select a sub-topic, like Yoga Teacher Training,  that best describes the offerings at your center. If your offerings are more broad, select just the main topic, like Yoga, instead.

One topic (or sub-topic) must be selected to publish on the Marketplace.

Topic Tags

Tags (or keywords) are another way for guests to find you using keywords in our search. You want these topic tags to be the words someone would use to find you. In these cases, less is more. Too many tags do not help you become more visible on the marketplace. Don't use location tags here as your location will be listed (and searchable) from other sections of your profile.

Event Highlights

List the key features guests can expect while at your center. This can be a general list used for all retreats you offer or a sample of what your most popular retreat includes.

Each highlight should be entered on a new line, we will format this to a bulleted list.

Click Photo to select or upload an image to this section of your profile.

Showcase an activity mentioned or display a copy of a schedule you use.

We recommend this image is at least 720x400 pixels.

What's Included

List the items that are included in all of your retreats here. If you enter these on separate lines, we'll automatically create a bulleted list on your page.

What's Not Included

List items that you don't offer or aren't included in your fees. For example, airfare. You can also list items that are available, but only for an additional fee (not included in the base price).

Maximum Group Size

This value should show the maximum number of guests allowed in your largest retreat. You can adjust this value per-program in the Marketplace Tab of an Edit Program page.

Venue

Add a short write-up of the physical spaces at your retreat center. Try to answer questions like: What makes your location unique? What is the climate like at different times of the year? What stands out when guests arrive for the first time?

Accommodations

Here's the spot to set expectations for the types of accommodations you offer at your center. If you have various options, describe the range of options you have and what is unique about them.

As in some of the previous sections click Photo to select or upload an image to this section of your profile.

We recommend you add an image of your most iconic room here.

Amenities

If you offer additional items that your guests will value, check all that apply.

To some guests something as simple as having access to Coffee/Tea or space to continue with Yoga practice in their free time can help them feel more prepared, this can lead to more bookings on the marketplace.

Example Daily Schedule

We understand some schedules are fluid and can change depending on the time of year or even the group on retreat. Our research shows that clarity around how days are structured helps guests feel more informed.

Describe what a typical day looks like at your center. It may be best to choose to focus on a ceremony day instead of the introduction day in this space.

You can change this field on a per-program basis so keep this fairly general.

Add a photo of a schedule here or of one of the main activities you mentioned in the example schedule.

Menu Options

Choose the diets and dietary preferences your center offers.

Add a photo here to show what a meal might look like or where one would eat when attending a retreat at your center.

Meals

Choose the number of meals a guest can expect on their stay. If guests arrive after breakfast on check-in day and leave before dinner on check-out day, it's okay to put 3 meals here.

Menu

Set some expectations for the menus you offer. If you grow your own food or have a specially trained chef this is the spot to mention it. List any complimentary food and drink that differs from your standard menu as well.

Short and sweet for this section with only 200 characters allowed.

Location / Address

Put your complete retreat center address here so that guests can book their trips accordingly.

Accuracy is important - this field will generate a location tag on the marketplace to help guests find retreats in areas that work best for them.

If events are held in different locations, you can update those on a per-program basis on the program edit page under the marketplace tab.

Directions

Some centers are easier to get to than others. If guests will fly into an International Airport share information like: what transit station they will need to go to, which transit option and the route they will need, where your normal pick-up spot is, how to find you and what to expect on the journey.

Add a photo that will help provide some comfort for a guest in a new place and help ensure they arrive easily and safely.

Transport

If you have pickup services from the airport choose the right fit here. If you don't offer pick-up services leave this section blank and ensure you've included all information needed to get to your center in the Directions section of the profile.

Enter your guest services number here.

This number should be the best number to call if a guest needs more information or support when booking their trip or if they get lost and need help getting to your center.

Marketplace Tab

When on an Edit Program page you'll see the Marketplace tab on the right.

It's important to note that fields in this tab are only visible on retreat.guru and will not appear anywhere else.

When scrolling through the Marketplace Tab you will see a check box to Modify specific fields.

If you leave this selection un-checked the information in that field will be copied over from the corresponding field in your Marketplace Profile.

Check the Modify box if you'd like to adjust the information to be more specific to the program listing you are creating.

Choose which programs are listed on the Marketplace

We understand that some programs may not be the right fit for the marketplace.

You have the ability to choose if a specific event is listed on the marketplace or not.

Uncheck Remove from Marketplace to ensure the listing will be visible on the retreat.guru. Changes made in the Marketplace Tab of a Program will only apply to the program you are editing.

For example:

Drala Yoga has an event that is popular with their regular guests. They choose to list the program only on their website.

Two months before the program starts there is still room available so they would like to add this program to the marketplace in hopes of filling up the remaining spots.

To do this they populate the Marketplace fields in advance but check the "Remove from Marketplace" box.

When they are ready to list the program on the marketplace they can un-check the box and open up registrations on the Marketplace.

Teachers

Teacher Profiles used for your site are copied over from the Teachers selection in the Information Tab. No changes need to be made in this section for the Marketplace.

 

Photos

Please add at least 5 high-quality photos to give the participant an idea of what this retreat will be like. These images should be more specific to the program than the images you added to your Marketplace Profile.

Listings with more photos of higher quality receive more participant interest than those with fewer, lower quality photos.

The recommended photo size is 720 x 444 pixels.

Do not include photos with text, watermarks, collages, filters (including black and white) or blurriness.

Experiences Type

For this program, select what experiences a guest can expect.

These should indicate the main ceremonies or focal points of the retreat. These selections will display on the search results page of the marketplace and can encourage potential guests to click into your listing.

If you find only one or two experience types fit you can leave the others blank.

Description / Story

This field is populated with content you entered in the Information Tab. Click show + to see how it will appear.

It may display your customizations here but customizations you've added to the description field in the Information Tab will be stripped to fit the formatting on the Marketplace.

This will not impact how the customizations display on the program page on your site.storyMPsetup

Review Your Marketplace Listing

Once you've completed the Marketplace Tab for your program you can view the listing by clicking "View in Marketplace".

To have this option you must click "Update" first to save your entries.

You can also see your Marketplace Listing by navigating to the quick link from the "All Programs" page list.viewMPsetup

View Your Marketplace Bookings

Navigate to your registrations page from the Admin Sidebar -> All registrations.

Any registrations booked through a Marketplace listing on retreat.guru can be identified by the Retreat Guru logo next to the guests name.
